Surrounded by the some of the most rugged scenery and landscape in Scotland it will come as no surprise that we have adventure all around us at the Forest Hills Hotel. Fringed by the beautiful Loch Ard, there are a multitude of watersports activities for groups and individuals. All activities are under the supervision of qualified staff, and all necessary equipment can be provided for a safe and enjoyable day out.
Climbing, abseiling and cliff jumping
Take a real leap of faith and experience the adrenalin-pumping sports of climbing, abseiling and cliff jumping. All activities are supervised by qualified instructors so if you have a head for heights and a thirst for thrills you can ascend to new levels of adventure.
Onsite Activities
Climbing and abseiling is available each week close to the Forest Hills Hotel. Take the challenge and push yourself over the edge to overcome gravity, as you work your way down our local rock faces. This adrenalin-packed activity is a fitting way to get your holiday off to a great start.
Watersports
From sailing and canoeing and kayaking to boat hire and dinghy days, your stay by Loch Ard is a watersport heaven. Our onsite activities specialists are making waves in the world of watersports and will help you plot a course towards pure enjoyment. Bon voyage!
Sailing
Learn to sail in safety on beautiful Loch Ard. Qualified instructors can be booked to help you find your sea legs - there are even qualification courses available if you really discover your inner sailor!
Canoeing and Kayaking
Quality structured courses are available in a safe and stimulating environment on Loch Ard in almost all weather conditions. Taster sessions for beginners run each week and BCU courses can be arranged on request. Kayaks and open canoes are also available for hire.
Boat Hire
Rowing and Motorboat Hire is available for fishing or pleasure. Sailing boat hire is available for Toppers, Wayfarers, Optimists, Bytes, Dart Catamarans and Lasers. Canoes and kayaks are also available for hire. If you would prefer to be escorted, we can organise for you to be accompanied by one of our instructors who will point out the areas of significant interest around the loch and give you a potted history of the area.
Quad biking
Fancy a change of gear? Exhilarating, fast paced action is right on your doorstep. Set off alone to discover the wilds or take a trek with our bike instructors. Whatever your route plans, quad biking is an exhilarating engine-powered activity for all serious petrol heads.
Quad Biking and Land Rover driving
Forest Hills has its own quad bike track, well-suited for beginners and more experienced quad bikers alike, where you can learn the basics and test your newly acquired skills with some challenging obstacles. All quad biking is supervised by LANTRA trained quad bike instructors to ensure your quad biking is enjoyable but above all safe. Alternatively take an instructor-led quad bike trek through some of the most scenic areas of the Trossachs.
Mountain biking
For a slightly gentler, greener day out in the Trossachs, cycling offers an attractive two- wheeled adventure. Hire a bike and head for the extensive network of cycle paths around Loch Lomond. Breathtakingly simple, adventurous and active - it's time you took a liking for biking!

500 miles of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park are waiting to be explored from the Forest Hills Hotel. This area of the Trossachs is suitable for novice and experienced bikers alike, with cycle tracks of varying difficulty. We will make sure that you have all of the equipment you need from the best bikes to safety helmets.
Target Sports
Ready, aim, fire! Shooting sports at the Forest Hills Hotel will test your skill and stamina but leave the abundant local wildlife unscathed. Set your sights on a day out with the clays or hear the shlink of your arrow as it speeds towards the bull's eye
Archery and Clay Pigeon Shooting
Archery and Clay Pigeon Shooting provide all budding 'Robin Hoods' with the satisfaction of being on target with this sporting activity. The opportunity to try this skilful sport under expert guidance will leave you exhilarated by the end of your session, whether you're a novice or an expert.
Go Ape! At Aberfoyle
For a truly 'tree-mendous' day of forest frolics, head for nearby Aberfoyle and the adventurous Go Ape! This treetop adventure centre is one of many across Britain but Aberfoyle is the pinnacle of action-packed playgrounds.
There's no time for monkeying around at Go Ape! Britain's two longest zip wires with a trademark Go Ape course on top makes Aberfoyle the most talked-about forest Adventure Park in the UK. Experience the thrill of flying 150 feet above the 90 foot waterfalls or cross the notorious Amazon Bridge - an activity that's been designed with high flyers in mind. Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is also home to a breeding pair of Ospreys.
