A GREEN APPROACH TO GOLF
The environmental practices of Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club were recognised at the Scottish Golf Environmental Group Awards 2006/2007, as it collected the prestigious Environmental Excellence Award.
Over the past seven years, the Borders-based hotel and championship golf course has implemented eco-friendly measures to protect the environment from the effects of energy abuse, in turn, encouraging wildlife to roam freely to enhance the beauty and character of the area.
The team works tirelessly to ensure that everything they do supports the environment and wildlife rather than destroy it. Steps taken to strengthen the eco-system include:
- recycling materials
- conserving energy
- letting trees and grassy areas flourish
- using non-harmful materials on the grounds
- planting extra reeds in the ponds to encourage more pond life
