Chernobyl Children Life Line
We provide support to the Chernobyl Children Life Line charity - both from a corporate and a local perspective, with many hotels hosting children and arranging activities for them during their respite stay.
The charity, which has 165 regional groups or Links run by volunteers across the UK, was established in 1992 and offer health, social and educational support to children from Belarus, who live in areas contaminated by the fallout from the Chernobyl disaster of 26th April 1986.
charityOver 8000 children will come to the UK in 2007 and 2008, each child staying for one month, during which they will receive access to medical care such as dentistry, and the chance to relax and enjoy their childhood with visits to attractions and interaction with youth groups and schools.
It is estimated that for each month a child spends in the UK, two years are added to their life expectancy. We work very closely with the charity's Inverness Link and are already planning more visits in 2008.
