Accommodation

A minimum number of bedrooms are required to be taken by your guests to enable a reception to run past 5pm subject to time of the year and day of the event.

Classic Double Rooms are available for guests attending a reception at the Bear from £148.00 Bed & Breakfast with upgrades to our executive rooms available from just £30.00 per room per night.

Special rates available for Sunday weddings or guests choosing to stay an additional night.

Full Exclusivity of the hotel is subject to hiring all 54 bedrooms

Block bookings with group discounts are available for those holding their wedding reception offsite but looking for accommodation in the local area. Please contact groups.bear@macdonald-hotels.co.uk for further details.

Children

The Bear can also cater for those younger members of the Wedding Party. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 may eat off the adult’s menu at 50% of the price. Alternatively, we are able to provide a special Children’s Menu. Children under the age of 5 may eat free of charge.

The Booking Process

Once you have viewed the hotel and met with our Wedding Co-ordinator, the hotel is happy to reserve one of the function rooms provisionally for up to 14 days.

1. To secure your booking, a letter of confirmation will be required, together with a non-refundable deposit of £500. For any bedroom bookings a non-refundable deposit of £40.00 per room per night is required.

2. All bookings require 25% of the total estimated wedding cost to be paid no later than 8 weeks after the deposit has been received. This payment is non-refundable and is not transferable.

3. Six weeks prior to the wedding day payment for the meal, beverages and any additional agreed costs must be paid. Please note that in some cases we may require a 50% deposit to be paid before this, depending on the lead time of the booking.

4. We will wish to receive final numbers 14 days prior to the event, along with the names, table plan and final dietary requirements.

5. Settlement of any extras incurred on the day must be paid upon departure.

Payment by credit card will incur a surcharge of 1.5%. Cheques should be made payable to "The Macdonald Bear Hotel".

Prices were correct at the time of printing but may be subject to change without notice and all of our prices are inclusive of VAT at the current rate of 17.5%

Cancellation charges

We realise that unforeseen circumstances can arise and you may need to cancel your wedding with us.  Although we understand this, unfortunately, we must make a cancellation charge due to other business that will have been turned away.

Details of this cancellation charge are shown in our wedding contract.

Should we be able to re-sell the date we will be able to reduce the cost of the cancellation fees. We recommend wedding insurance so that any unforeseen events are covered
