Disabled Access

The New Aviemore Highland Resort opened in 2004 has been designed to provide for the requirements of the current DDA in the new and reconstructed facilities.

Full Disabled access is now provided in and around its buildings via lifts and ramping as required, hearing loops, lowered reception points, visually impaired signage and wall contrast treatments have also been introduced. All new doorways comply with disabled access guidelines and existing doorways have been altered where possible. Minimal threshold access is now provided throughout the resort with access ramping to compliant gradients as required.

In difficult external terrain situations such as the site of the woodland lodges full access ramps have been provided where possible without destroying the sensitive natural setting, consequently the majority of the lodges have disabled ramp access.

Existing pathways to the adjacent Nature Reserve have been upgraded and remodelled to be wheel chair accessible in consultation with Scottish Natural Heritage as part of an ongoing accessibility improvement of the Leisure path network on and through the site.

Externally the central site area, formally extensively stepped across its length, has been completely regraded to provide direct level access into the convention and public leisure complex with vehicle and bus drop off at a central frontdoor reception level with readily accessible disabled vehicle parking immediate to the entrance.
