Go mountain biking in the mountains! Laggan Wolftrax is not just a trail network, this is an 18km ski resort for bikes. Prepare to be tested on some of the most challenging bedrock trails in the UK...

  • Laggan Wolftrax in the heart of the Strathmashie Forest is a mix of natural wilderness and purpose built tracks, designed to test the very best. Hire a bike and all the gear (wear your own gloves and sturdy boots) or bring your own bike and just pay for an uplift from the car park. Qualified guides can lead groups of 2-7 or you can go exploring on your own. There are marked trails for every level from beginner to expert, a well-stocked bike shop, workshop, showers and a warm friendly café serving hearty soul food. Night rides available.

Keep pace through the forest on a 125cc quad bike, following the leader along the twists and turns of the track. If you're lucky, you might even spot wild deer. Or take the 4x4 challenge and learn to drive safely off-road...

  • Take a trek through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and admire spectacular views of the mountains and local wildlife. Experienced guides will make sure you are safely in control of your quad bike before taking you along moorland tracks and trails on either the Rothiemurchus or Alvie Estates. Wear old clothes, wellies and waterproofs - all other safety equipment is provided - and don't forget your camera! Minimum age 12 years. Alternatively, why not master a 4x4 driving experience?

Take the Mountain Railway to the top of CairnGorm Mountain for some of the finest views and best snow sports in Scotland. Learn to ski and snowboard... or travel across the snow on a buggy pulled by sleddogs!

  • Hire equipment on the mountain (bring your own gloves, hats and goggles) and learn to ski or snowboard at the ski school then head to the nursery slopes at the top of the mountain. There's a sledge park for the little ones and the UK's highest restaurant and bar sits at the top, serving wholesome, warming food and drink. If you'd prefer to walk up Cairngorm Mountain and take the train back down again, there are now walking routes for all abilities.

    Bad weather doesn't have to stop play. You can learn to ski all year round at the Insh Hall dry ski slope and the family will love the Cairngorm Sled Dog Centre, where you can meet the sled dog team and be transported across the mountains in a 2-man buggy. Try a floodlit night ride!
